Bud Selig made the right decision. When I first learned that Detroit Tigers pitcher Armando Gallaraga was denied a perfect game because of a blatantly errant call by umpire Jim Joyce, I immediately felt that the MLB Commissioner should overturn the mistake. But after listening to the arguments of those who felt otherwise, and remembering Game 6 of the 1985 World Series between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Kansas City Royals, I realized that Selig made the right move. In the 1985 World Series, the Cardinals were ahead 3-2 in games and leading 1-0 in the ninth inning of Game 6 when Royals utility player Jorge Orta hit a ground ball to 1B Jack Clark. Clark made the play and tossed it to pitcher Todd Worrell, who arrived at the first base bag in plenty of time. However, umpire Don Denkinger mistakenly called Orta safe. The Royals eventually scored two runs in that inning to win the game 2-1, and then destroyed the Cardinals in Game 7 (11-0) to win the Series. No change
