History of the Cincinnati Reds

The Cincinnati Reds began play in 1882 as a charter member of the American Association (AA).  At the time, they were known as the Cincinnati Red Stockings.  Since their formation, they have been up and down, winning six major league titles (one AA, five World Series) with an average of about 22 years between each title.

The Reds can trace the origin of their name back to baseball’s first professional franchise, the original Cincinnati Red Stockings.  The Red Stockings were formed in 1866 as the first team fully encompassed of pros. When the best players moved to Boston, they took the name with them.

In fact, the Cincinnati Reds as we know them now were the third team to play in Cincinnati as the Red Stockings.  A second Red Stockings team was a charter member of the NL but was expelled in 1880.  The third Cincinnati Red Stockings team played its first eight years in the American Association.  They joined the NL in 1890 (where

Bet on Sports – A Quick Guide Betting on the MLB

Whenever someone asks another person about what sport to bet on and who to bet on that sport, the average American will probably say baseball or basketball. As to who to bet on, the answer will probably be a bit vaguer than the first one. Most of the time people bet on a team because it is their home team-a New Yorker betting on the Yankees-or simply because they grew up watching the team and idolize it, like when someone loves the Red Sox because he or she remembers dad taking them to the ballgame on weekends.

However, if you are one to seriously bet on sports, you want to get a better reason to invest your hard earned money. If you are looking to bet on sports that are easier to understand and follow, you might want to try baseball. However, if you /bet on sports/ like the Major League Baseball, chances are you need to understand the pitching lineups of each team so you can get the best picks. This may be a bit confusing at first, but it is infinitely

The Rise and Fall of Rod Beck?s Baseball Net Career

The Rise and Fall of Rod Beck?s Baseball Net Career

Baseball careers can fall into the baseball net of despair as fast as they began to rise. Because of off the field issues for example with drugs and pain from past injuries a great human being like Rod Beck would fall into this baseball net of despair. Beck was the closer for the San Francisco Giants for many years as they won several NL West Titles. A baseball net cast Beck into a different direction as he was traded to the Chicago Cubs. Beck used that baseball net as a positive by helping the Cubs win the NL Wild Card in 1998. As the baseball net of fate would have it the game that the Cubs played to win that NL Wild Card was against Beck’s old team; Dusty Baker and the San Francisco Giants. In an interesting the baseball net of fate would show up again and Dusty Baker would later become the manager of the Chicago Cubs.

To get back to that original baseball net of despair Rod Beck would later suffer some more arm injuries and continue to struggle with

Strange Trades In The World Of Sports

Strange Trades In The World Of Sports

Just when you think the sports world has produced every possible bizarre trade imaginable, they still manage to top themselves …

A broadcaster for a rabbit. And a cartoon rabbit, at that.

When baseball journeyman Harry Chiti got dealt to the New York Mets for a player to be named later, little did he know that player would be him. The Chicago Cubs could spare a backup catcher during the early season, and apparently, the Mets saw enough of Chiti afterward. So, when they later gave a list of players from which to choose in order to complete the deal, Chiti’s name was there. Perhaps their choice said something about the other players, but there can be no doubt that the Cubs got equal value in return.

At least that transaction was a player-only deal, albeit only one player.

Transactions involving no players have had various impacts on the teams involved. An obvious example was a swap between the Detroit Tigers and Cleveland

Walk This Way: Beat the Street in Boston

Whilst many people may associate Boston with the American sitcom ‘Cheers’, the Boston Red Sox or the Boston Tea Party, the Massachusetts capital has actually come to be known as ‘The Walking City’, because its small, safe and friendly neighbourhoods are ideal for, well, walking. Indeed, Boston is widely recognised as being one of the most walker-friendly cities in the whole country.

Given that Boston is built on a peninsula, the city is surrounded by water – but the streets and architecture contained within the city boundaries are historic and very well preserved, many of which were built back in the 18th century. Today, Boston is as accessible as ever and there are several routes visitors should consider if ever in town.

Firstly, there is what is known as the Freedom Trail, which is a walking route that passes by 16 historical sites covering well over two centuries of American history. Taking roughly two hours to complete, the walk includes

What Do Athletes Like About Q-Link?

We have a son that is an athlete, who is a Division I College pitcher and loves and swears by his Q-link Titanium Pendant.  He feels  so strongly about his Q-Link pendant, that I decided to do some research and see if other athletes feel the same way.  What I found out was that not only athletes such as PGA Golfers, Major League Baseball Players, Tennis Pros, Runners, Swimmers and Mountain Guides  wear these products, but that entertainers and movie stars such as Jimmy Page, Roger Daultry, Rosie Jones, ck Jagger, Sarah Jessica Parker and Madonna also take advantage of the benefits of the Q-Link.

Approximately 350 Pro Golfers are feeling the benefits of Q-Link.  “Golfers wearing a Q-Link have won more than 100 professional tournaments  since 1999. . .this is more than a fad, it’s a trend”, states Golf World Magazine.  Golf Digest magazine said, “Tour players are raving about how they reduce stress and help concentration”.

Why People Love Fan Sports Gear

Everybody who loves sports usually pick up his favorite team from his favorite sports. Then they love to acquire sports fan products for the team that they support. Sometimes people choose their favorite teams based on their origin or location. For example, people who reside in Boston support the baseball team Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins in ice hockey, and Boston Celtics for basketball. Chicago sports fans support the Chicago Bulls fervently and go out of the way to exhibit their support.

However, it is worth mentioning that there are many other reasons to support a specific team, such as a team that the parents support or the one with a good winning streak or the one with very good sponsors. There are many university teams as well that play with NCAA, and people usually support their own colleges and universities. But when it comes to cheering up your favorite player, different people choose different ways. One such way is to go for fan sports
